Measuring The Electricity We Use In Our House

Run For Your Lives The Aliens Are Attacking Us, oops, heh heh, wrong post. Anyway, this chart is for electricity. Some of the days we use a lot more electricity than others because our bathroom was very damp (due to a leak that is now fixed) so we used a dehumidifier which uses a lot of electricity. Here is the chart.

Measuring The Water We Use In Our House

I have been measuring water and electricity as well as heat that we use in our house and have made charts of the readings. The average amount of water we use is 276 litres. Some days we have used more water than other days and that is because we do things like have baths and showers or wash a big load of dishes. Here is the chart.

Measuring The Heat We Use In Our House

I have been checking the heat meter every day. The meter measures how much heat we use, dad showed me how to put all my numbers that I got from the meter every day into a chart.

The average amount of heat we used is 47 kWh(kilowatt-hours) and in the past week we have used an average of 38.5.

As you may notice from the chart, some days we used a lot more heat than others, the reason is that we have not yet hooked up the thermostats so we just turn the pump on and off by hand, which means that if we forget, it stays on and we use more heat. On the first reading I took we were trying to heat up and dry out the house. Here is the chart.

Planting Onions At The Allotments

Today we went to the polytunnel by the allotments and planted onion seeds in small pots. When they are big enough they will be transplanted to the community farm and the allotments. We planted seven different types of onions in fourteen pots. There are between 100 and 150 seeds per pot.

My Purse

I made this purse the other day, I am quite proud of it even though it can only be used for very light things because of the material.

My Motor

My dad and I made two motors while we were in Canada, the first one is very simple, the second one, not so much. I have labeled the pictures so have not written much here. there are four magnets that spin around on a circular piece of card board and as each magnet passes something called a reed switch they close the circuit which turns on a magnet on the other side which keeps it going.

Connecting Computer Plugs

Dad showed me how to wire a computer plug/socket for our house (on the right in the photo below). Then I did two others completely by myself! (The picture is of the one me and dad did.) The socket on the left is a TV plug (just in case we ever get one which I highly doubt).

Movie Review: TRON LEGACY

The movie is about an eight year old boy called Sam and his father who goes to work one day and never comes back.

The movie then skips about 20 years and the dad's friend gets a message from his dads office, from a number that hasn't been used in 20 years. The son goes to his dads office and accidentally enters a world inside a computer that his dad created.

It is a world where everyone wears digital suits and ride on motor cycles and in planes that appear when you pull a stick apart. The main part of this world seems to be based on playing games, except you lose by dying. There are three types of people, users (real people inside the computer), programs (which are a digital version of users), and ISOs (people that formed because all the right things were there).

The movie is a sequel to another movie made a long time ago, and this makes the movie quite confusing, especially because I have not seen the first one.

The father had been kicked out of the city and a program version of himself had taken over, Sam gets rescued and brought out of the city by his father's apprentice quorra who is the very last one of the ISOs and finds his father. the rest of the movie is about them trying to get to the portal which will take them back to the real world.

My Cartoon Animals

I was doodling the other day and I started to draw some animals in funny positions, a horse sitting down, a dog on its hind legs, a fish dancing, and I came up with the idea to draw cartoons of some of these animals, so here is the introduction to the animals, I will post their adventure later.

Ground Work For Our Community Woodland

Today we visited the future woodland on the eco-village land. There are going to be around 17,000 trees planted. They just finished preparing the site for planting. The trees will be planted in "mole hill" mounds that are around 50 cm wide.
These are the machines they used, look at the size of them!!!!!
See the scooper at the end of the arm? That is used to turn over bits of the soil to make the little mounds. I am not sure when the trees are actually going to be planted, probably in the next few weeks.
